The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are an imaginary quartet of four legged amphibian turtles, equipped with uncanny abilities that enable them to turn into a stealthy, highly skilled fighting force. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first made their comic book debut in April 1985, following the success of the early Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have grown to become one of the most popular cartoons on television, spawned a string of bestselling movies, two feature films, numerous video games, and countless action figures, toys, and collectibles. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of the 1980s, have grown into something much larger than a comic book or cartoon.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first made their comic book debut in the pages of the October 1985 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles issue No. 1. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were created by Peter O’ Neil, who was one of the creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toy and had written a couple of comic book storylines featuring the turtles. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became a hit in the United States, being featured in various comic books including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vs. the Terrorists, wherein Shreddar would form an alliance with the terrorist Master Splinter to try and destroy the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. O’ Neil then wrote a few issues of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles television series, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Heroes Never Die, which starred Michael Jackson as TMNT, and was a direct-to-DVD movie. After the success of the television series, various Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles merchandise was released, such as video games, action figures, toys, and even an animated series, known as the Disney Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which lasted for an entire season.

The most well known Teenage mutant ninja turtles of this period are the three members of the group known as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which include Michelangelo, Donatello, and Leonardo. These turtles have special suits that allow them to turn into different types of martial arts fighting machines and also have sharp claws that enable them to cut through virtually anything that they hit. Their favorite weapon is a glowing energy based sword called the Shuriken, which can be used to attack enemies and is quite effective.

In this contemporary day series, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles continue their feud with the evil Dr. Neo Cortex, who has been trying to harness the mystic power of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He wants to use it to create a weapon that will be powerful enough to defeat the turtles forever. However, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles find that the Shuriken is too light to be a weapon, so they give it to a young boy named Leonardo who lives along the sewers. In this animated series, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles discover that they have many friends, one of them being Michelangelo.

In the first season of the new cartoon series, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were in training under the tutelage of their new Master, Shang Chi. However, when a mysterious assailant kidnapping the city of New York, the Turtles and their new friends had to save the city. During the rescue attempt, the evil doctor attempted to use his newest weapon, the Shuriken, on the Turtles, but they were defeated by Leo. In the end, however, it was Leo who was able to use the Shuriken on the scientist, thus releasing the captive mutated turtles.

In the first anniversary issue of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, it was revealed that there will be six more seasons of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons to come. A special feature of these new seasons is that they will feature the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It has been noted by Nickelodeon that they have come up with a story that allows the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to meet their modern day counterparts. It also gives the audience an idea as to how the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will act in the future. In fact, the Nickelodeon creative team has said that this idea was something that they were really looking forward too, as they felt that it would be a good way to expand the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles world. A fan at Universal Studios also stated that he thinks that it will be really great if the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles can team up with their modern day counterparts.
